DayZ won't launch — full fix

Black screen, Enfusion error, instant close — follow steps in order.

Base fix order

    Install VC++ All-in-One → reboot.

    Steam verify integrity.
  3. 3
    ASCII path only, no Cyrillic in folder names.
  4. 4
    Clear Steam launch options.
  5. 5
    Launch via DayZ Launcher; BattlEye fix if admin loop.

    Laptop: force dedicated GPU.

    Still broken → error block below or crashes page.

Launch errors

Error Creating Enfusion Engine / 0x00000001

Symptoms: Enfusion error dialog.

  1. Follow base order.
  2. Reset Documents\DayZ profile.
  3. Reinstall to NTFS drive.
  4. Leave Steam beta.
0xc000007b / Side-by-side configuration is incorrect

Symptoms: Missing runtime DLL.

  1. VC++ All-in-One x86+x64.
  2. DirectX runtime.
  3. sfc /scannow as admin.
Application load error P:0000065432 / P:0000…

Symptoms: Corrupted game files.

  1. Verify twice.
  2. Clean reinstall.
Black screen / white screen / frozen logo

Symptoms: Black/white screen hang.

  1. Alt+Enter toggle fullscreen.
  2. Disable fullscreen optimizations.
  3. Update GPU driver or DDU.
  4. Try DX11/DX12 toggle.
Steam: infinite “Preparing to launch”

Symptoms: Infinite preparing to launch.

  1. Clear Steam download cache.
  2. Steam as admin + DayZ Launcher.
  3. BattlEye fix.
Laptop: game will not start / 0 FPS / Intel used instead of NVIDIA

Symptoms: Wrong GPU selected.

  1. Windows graphics settings.
  2. NVIDIA Control Panel.
  3. AMD Software dedicated GPU.
Antivirus / Defender blocks the game or it closes immediately

Symptoms: Instant close, no error.

  1. Whitelist DayZ + BE in antivirus.
  2. Windows Defender exclusion.
  3. Test without third-party AV.
Not enough disk space / unable to write file

Symptoms: Disk space / write error.

  1. 25GB+ free space.
  2. Clear Steam downloading folder.
Fails only with mods / after Workshop changes

Symptoms: Only fails with mods.

  1. Disable all mods, enable one by one.
  2. Re-subscribe broken mods.
